8 Days Left!

Monday, June 22nd, 2009

You have eight days left to submit a t-shirt idea for the new Imp t-shirt contest! All you have to do is write a brief description of a t-shirt idea you have using characters from the comic strip and email them to me! I have gotten some pretty good ideas so keep them coming!

The deadline to submit an idea to me via email is June 30, 2009. Remember…the winning idea gets a free t-shirt with the winning design! It will take a few weeks to get the shirt done. I will post the winning design in this blog and the t-shirt will be available at the Imp store so check back here and stay tuned!

Obsession

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

For those of you who own a iPhone you are familiar with the available list of applications you can load onto your phone. One of the many applications to choose from is a variety of games to download and play. Recently I downloaded a game called “Vampires Live” onto my iPhone and at the moment of starting up the demonic game I have become instantly hooked into playing the thing night and day. Yes, my friends, I have become obsessed with playing a little game on my phone. It’s sick…it’s an evil worthy of Imp’s plotting. I am now forever checking my phone for the amount of blood I have sucked from my victims and how many vampire clans I can attack and win.

Though vampires aren’t the only thing haunting my phone. Fun little games like blowing up blow fish in water and popping balloons during the new game “UP” after the new Pixar movie flash across my phone’s screen as well.

In the spirit of gaming your life away I made the theme of Thursday’s Imp comic about obsession over the little eletronic devices that seem to run our lives these days. If you haven’t already succumbed to this evil then beware! Don’t get started in playing. You will never want to stop!
If you want to add me to your clan on Vampires Live my clan code is R1PNN3.

Don’t worry…I’ll make sure Imp’s comics are uploaded on time but I’ll have to deposit my blood in the blood bank first ;)

T-Shirt Contest Winner!

Congratulations to Leslie from the grand state of Utah for winning the Imp T-shirt contest! All submissions were excellent but I had to pick one and Leslie’s idea was the best. In a few weeks I will have the design of the shirt finished and available to all Imp fans to buy at the Imp store.

Thank you for all the great shirt ideas sent in and congratulations to Leslie! She will receive her free T-shirt with her very own design in the mail very soon.

I will be posting the design on the blog in the next week. So, stay tuned and check out the new Imp shirt!

Comic Con 2009

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Wednesday through Sunday this week is Comic Con International, the biggest comic convention around that takes place in sunny San Diego, California. Unfortunately, this year, I will not be there to enjoy the fun and wonder that is comics, movies, and like. For those of you who are there now…I hate you, I hate you, I hate you. No really…I really hate you. I love Comic Con and all the entertainment it brings…from the latest in books and toys to buy, to the panels, to the never before seen trailers for the up and coming movies, to the information at the workshops on how to draw webcomics. I will miss it all this year.

If you are going…have a great time…no really…have a GREAT time. Tell me all about it and take those awesome pictures. I will be living vicariously through you.

I hope to attend next year if I can get a hotel room within a 50 miles radius of the city and if I have the money. I look forward to seeing everyone’s pictures and scoping youtube for videos that people post of the fun.

Share the source of your Creativity..

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

I have to share this video with my readers who are the creative types. I found this talk on www.webcomics.com and it was so good I have to post it here to spread the word. Elizabeth Gilbert talks about the source of creativity and how it may not all be your fault. She expresses her belief that those who unduly suffer from their own creativity can separate themselves from their creative outlet and not suffer from the effects of trying to complete projects and ‘outdo’ their last piece of work. Whether you are a writer, an artist, or something else, watch this talk and rethink your relationship with your creativity.

Guest Comic

Wednesday, August 12th, 2009

I drew up a little guest comic for my friend Scott who is on vacation this week. It is showcased today on his webcomic called: HellHasFoundMe. It made me chuckle if I do say so myself.

Doing a guest comic is challenging since the artist has to draw another artist’s characters in your own style. Of course the subject matter of the gag should be in concert with the characters and their comic theme. All and all, a great exercise for a comic artist :)

HellHasFoundMe is a gamer theme comic but so much more. His comic is more of an ongoing series of character driven storylines interpersed with slice of life type of humor. I enjoy Scott’s skill at pen and ink hatch marks and his excellent freeform style. So, move your little mouse cursers over to Scott’s url, click over to his webcomic HellHasFoundMe, and check it out.

Disney Family Museum

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

The Disney Family Museum opens on October 1, 2009 in the foggy city of San Francisco, CA. I read a little about this museum and how it is state of the art. I look forward to seeing an entire museum dedicated to Walt Disney; his life and extrodinary influencial career in animation and art. After all, he is the father of animation for all intents and purposes :)
